My family and I have just moved back to the San Luis Valley, and are in the Fox Creek Branch. This is pretty special to us. First, we have just come from another branch and really like branch life. Second, both my family and my husband's family have some strong roots in this branch. Our second Sunday in the branch, we had a senior couple come and speak in sacrament. I was so excited to see Rebecca’s parents! We have been best friends since high school! They had just returned from a mission in Mexico. They shared some wonderful stories and the spirit was very strong. Of course, afterwards I had to speak to them. Grace, my friend’s mother, said, “Your last name is Stubbs now?” I said, “Yes”. She smiled and told me that she had some Stubbs in her family line, but that they were out of Provo. My husband said that his family was also out of Provo. I immediately went home and discovered that she is my husband’s third cousin once removed! Her 2nd great grandfather is my husband’s 3rd great grandfather! Can you believe that my best friend [Rebecca] of 21 years is related to my husband [Shannon]? (Taken from the Journal of Michelle Hayley Stubbs written the 11th of November 2012.)
