Tiny, But Mighty

Tiny was a Welsh Pony that was beloved by many generations of Wittens.  His exact age is not known, but he lived at least 25 years.  He had a very sweet temperament, but was quite spirited.  Young kids or smaller adults could play with him and ride him all day.  But he liked to give a hard time to teenagers and adults.

One day Tiny went with the family to Grandma and Grandpa DePriest’s house.  The kids were all taking turns riding Tiny, but he was acting up.    Bob came out of the house and said, “Let me show you kids how to ride this horse.”  Well, Tiny wasn’t having any of it!  Bob got on, put his feet in the stirrups and Tiny reared over backward.  There they lay, Bob still in the saddle, feet in the stirrups and Tiny’s feet kicking away.  The kids were too scared to laugh until they realized that their dad was okay.

Another time, Charlie was riding him and, as usual, Tiny wasn’t very thrilled.  He ran straight under the close line and just as Tiny planned, the close line hit Charlie right under the nose and he was knocked right off!  Tiny turned and looked at Charlie with what seemed to be a smirk and headed for the corral.

Bessie wasn’t too thrilled the day that B.J. rode Tiny through the house.  He walked right in the front door, through the house and out the back door.  He must have been on his best behavior that day because he didn’t even leave any “presents” along the way!

Tiny was even in the Manassa Pioneer Day parade!  Colette rode Joker and B. J. rode him.  Tiny behaved the whole time and even pranced around like he owned the place.  Some people gave B.J. a hard time saying that she should give him a break and let him ride her!  Little did they know that he was the one in charge!
