Opal Lee Witten was named after her aunt, Dorah Lee Hester.
Dorah Lee was the younger sister of Opal's mother, Nancy Jane "Nannie" Hester. Dorah Lee was born when Nannie was 17 years old and still living at home. Dorah Lee died at the age of 2 years and Nannie named her first child after her.
