Jesse Grant DePriest was born prematurely on the 16th of March 1913 in Manassa, Conejos, Colorado, United States. He was the first child born to Jesse Thomas DePriest and Freda "Pearl" Von Cannon. Jesse only lived a few hours dying the same day he was born [1]. His grandfather, Thomas Walker DePriest gave him a blessing before his death [2]. He is buried in the Old Manassa Cemetery located in Conejos County [3]. His grave is in the DePriest Baby Section near his 3 younger brothers and 1 younger sister. Jesse Grant was named after his father, Jesse, and his maternal grandfather, James Grant Von Cannon.
